Men's Corner: 5 Grooming Habits That'll Boost Your Confidence

With the right startegy, you can impress anyone.

Not getting the breaks you want at work or in the love arena? Sometimes, you just need to make a few changes in your grooming routine to break through that rut and score the confidence boost you need (think: Steve Carell in Crazy, Stupid Love). Here’s what you need to do to reboot:

1. Get enough sleep.

That’s the only way to avoid the dark circles under your eyes and ditch the overall fatigue that concern both your boss and your lady. Sleep early, so you can get a head start on your day and show off more energy. Another bonus: waking up earlier will give you more time in the morning to make sure you look extra sharp.

2. Use a face wash - and pick the right one.

Washing your face with the same soap you use on the rest of your body (including your feet) isn’t doing you any favors. Cleanse your mug twice daily with an energizing face wash that will brighten your skin and give the impression that you’re ready to take on challenges that come your way. Look for one with potent ingredients like coffee bean extracts and cooling menthol to awaken tired, haggard skin with a charge of energy.

3. Upgrade your shave.

Most men rush through this with a rusty razor and a little soap - not good since it can lead to rough skin, ingrowns, and pimples. The best time to shave is after you shower, when hair is softest. Never dry shave and always apply an energizing face wash with cooling menthol to instantly refresh your skin and clear of dirt and debris post-shave.

4. Smell great.

Body odor is an instant confidence-killer. Shower twice daily and swipe an antiperspirant that works as hard as you do. And remember to keep your cologne seductive - something that’ll lure your date closer as she catches a whiff of your scent. Try a fresh, crisp fragrance for day and a warm, woody fragrance at night.

5. Tend to your hair.

Here’s a tip: Don’t go to a date right after you visit the barber for a trim. A men’s cut always looks better after a few days and it won’t be obvious to your girl that you just got a cut for her, so plan accordingly. Just remember to keep it looking polished and dapper by applying a little bit of product.
