Post-Summer Whitening Tips

Spent too much time under the sun this summer? Here are five tips on how you can to get your glow back after experiencing unwanted skin darkening from the sun,

1. Check your facial wash. 

If you want to bring back your pinkish-white glow, make sure that you’re using a whitening facial foam. You’ll score faster results if it contains Pro-Vitamin B3 (it lightens skin and dark spots by preventing the transfer of melanin to the surface), so read that label to make sure your sudsier contains this. Tip: Use it twice a day to help wash away the buildup of dead skin cells and give your complexion an instant radiance boost.

2. Moisturize religiously.

Hydrate your skin twice a day to get softer and radiant skin. For the day, use a day cream that contains Pro-Vitamin B3 (it’s really the magic ingredient for whiter skin!) and SPF that will give you ample sun protection while repairing your skin cells. This means that overtime, your skin will actually reveal a rosy white complexion. A non-oily formula will also work best, because you don’t have to worry about your pores clogging up. 




3. Hydrate yourself 

Drinking lots of water helps flush out the toxins from your body that cause inflammation and dull skin. Drink at least eight glasses of water a day to keep yourself hydrated and your skin bright and healthy. 

4. Regulate your shower temperature

Bathing in scalding hot water may feel relaxing, but it’s actually really bad for your skin. Practicing this regularly actually strips your skin of its natural oils and might even cause a mild burn, leaving your skin red (this can cause skin darkening in the long run). Instead, take lukewarm baths—they feel just as relaxing without the danger of harming your skin. 

5. Eat right and sleep early. 

To get whiter and brighter skin, you also have to watch what you eat. Cut down on sugary foods, because they have been found to cause dull skin in the long run. Caffeine and alcohol dehydrate and inflame the skin, so stay away from those, too. Eat more fruits and vegetables and get at least eight hours of sleep every night. Having a good amount of rest helps your body and repair itself faster, so you’ll definitely see a huge difference.
